Harry Kane of England equals Alan Shearer's tally of seven goals in European Championship history.

England captain Harry Kane equaled Alan Shearer's record of seven goals in European Championship history when he scored in England's 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 on Wednesday night.

Kane converted a penalty following a VAR review of a challenge by Denzel Dumfries, which led to a contentious spot kick awarded to Gareth Southgate's team. This goal drew him level with Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney as the only English players to score in four different major tournaments, with his goal against Denmark in the group stage being particularly significant.

His strike against Denmark was his fifth in European Championships, making him the 23rd player in history to achieve this milestone, alongside greats like Marco van Basten, Robert Lewandowski, and Zinedine Zidane. Kane's header against Slovakia in the round of 16 took his tally to six goals before he added his seventh from the penalty spot against the Netherlands.

Now tied with Shearer as England's joint all-time leading scorer in European Championships, Kane will aim to surpass this record when England faces Spain in the final on Sunday. His latest goal not only propelled England closer to their first-ever European Championship title but also puts him among the elite group of players who have scored five or more goals at Euros.
