Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo set a new record for Manchester United in their loss to Brighton.

In Manchester United's 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo made a notable mark in the club's history. Diallo's equalizer, a deflected shot from a Mazraoui assist, marked the first time Manchester United had scored a Premier League goal with both the scorer and assister being African players.

Despite Diallo's goal leveling the score after Danny Welbeck's opener, a dramatic 95th-minute strike from Joao Pedro left Manchester United empty-handed. This defeat highlighted Manchester United's troubling trend, as they have now lost six Premier League matches from goals conceded in the 90th minute or later since the start of the 2022-23 season, more than any other team in that period.

The late heartbreak against Brighton echoed a similar experience from recent matches, as Manchester United had previously conceded stoppage-time goals in two of their last three away games at Brighton. In May 2023, Alexis Mac Allister's 99th-minute goal had also resulted in a loss for United.

Brighton has now become the second team to score multiple stoppage-time winners against Manchester United in the Premier League, joining Arsenal, who have achieved this feat three times. Additionally, Manchester United has struggled in away games where they conceded first, remaining winless in their last 14 top-flight matches on the road after falling behind, with two draws and 12 losses in that span.
