Liverpool aiming to reach 45 points by the end of the year, will visit West Ham United for their last match of 2024.
While Chelsea and Arsenal have occasionally failed to take advantage of their Premier League title rivals' setbacks, Liverpool made the most of Chelsea’s shock loss to Fulham on Thursday. Despite going behind to a Jordan Ayew goal, Liverpool responded strongly, equalizing through a superb Cody Gakpo strike just before halftime, then completing the comeback with goals from Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah.
Under Arne Slot, Liverpool have now won 11 of their last 13 matches across all competitions, and crucially, they still have a game in hand over their rivals. Slot's side remains unbeaten in their first 13 away games of the 2024-25 season, although their recent defensive lapses on the road could give West Ham some hope. Liverpool have conceded at least twice in their last four away league matches, including losses at Arsenal, Southampton, and Newcastle.
West Ham, under Julen Lopetegui, are ending the year strongly. Thursday’s win over Southampton made it four unbeaten in the Premier League, lifting them into 13th place, just ahead of Manchester United. They’ve earned eight points from the last 12 available and are closer to the top five than the relegation zone.
West Ham have been consistent in attack, scoring in their last seven Premier League matches. They’ve lost only once in their last six games at the London Stadium, the venue where they drew 2-2 with Liverpool last season. However, the Reds have won six of the last seven meetings between the two, including a 5-1 victory in both the EFL Cup and Premier League last year.
