Denmark Secures EURO Qualifiers Top Spot Despite Recent Defeat, Faces Challenging Group Stage with Slovenia, England, and Serbia.

For the Danes, this is the first of two friendly matches against Nordic sides before they head out to Germany. Their final friendly match will pit them against Norway on June 8. This will be the first time Denmark and Sweden meet since their 2020 friendly, which the Danes won 2-0. It was the same scoreline they registered in their most recent match, beating Faroe Islands in March. That result marked an end to a two-game winless run and was also the first time they scored in three games. While it hasn’t been straightforward in recent matches, Denmark come here as favorites. They have just one loss in 10 games. They won seven of those 10 matches and are unbeaten in nine home matches coming here.

A poor run in the European Championship qualifiers left Sweden a distant third in Group F after Match Day 8. Finishing nine points below second spot, meant Sweden will be among the nations to miss the 2024 showpiece. Now Jon Dahl Tomasson can only prepare his charges for the Nations League in September. This will be an important preparation game in that respect. Heading to Copenhagen, the Swedes will be looking to build on their 1-0 win over Albania last time out. That win, enabled by Gustaf Nilsson’s goal, was a good recovery from their 5-2 defeat to Portugal earlier. For Nilsson, it was the second straight game in which he got to score. Four losses in their last 10 matches will however pit them as the underdogs in this fixture. The visitors have also managed just three clean sheets in the last 11 matches.
