Europa League leaders Lazio, already assured of a knockout stage spot with two games to spare, prepare to face Real Sociedad at Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio’s unbeaten Europa League run ended with a 0-0 draw against Ludogorets, but they bounced back with a 3-1 win over Ajax, topping the group with 16 points alongside Athletic Bilbao. Already guaranteed at least a playoff spot, the Biancocelesti can secure last-16 qualification with a game to spare. 

Despite a recent three-game winless streak in Serie A, including a Derby della Capitale loss, Lazio returned to form with a 3-0 victory over Hellas Verona and are also through to the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Real Sociedad, sitting 12th in the Europa League standings, are three points clear of elimination and one point off the top eight. Led by Mikel Oyarzabal’s recent brace against Dynamo Kyiv, La Real have won eight of their last 14 matches in the competition but remain winless in their last eight games against Serie A opponents. Strong defensively on the road, they will look to end their struggles in Italy at Stadio Olimpico.
