Match Stats

Iraq:

Iraq, leading Group D in the AFC Asia Cup, aims to solidify their top spot against Vietnam. Already through to the knockout rounds with two victories, Jesus Garcia's team seeks to conclude the initial stage as group winners. With wins against Indonesia (3-1) and Japan (2-1), Iraq has a three-point lead and a strong record, winning five of their last six matches. Having been crowned continental champions in 2007, Iraq has qualified for the knockout rounds in nine out of their ten appearances.

Vietnam:

Vietnam faces Iraq, having not won in their last five encounters and suffering elimination from the competition. In their third appearance as present-day Vietnam, Phillipe Troussier's team aims to end on a positive note, despite losing both matches so far. Their last outing saw a 1-0 defeat to Indonesia, an improvement from their tournament opener against Japan where they conceded four goals. Vietnam's struggle for wins continues, with just one victory in eight matches, and Le Thanh Phong will miss the upcoming game due to suspension.

Analysis:

Goals haven’t been a problem for Iraq in this competition but they have found it hard to keep clean sheets. As they are coming up against an already eliminated team, they will seek a huge win to prepare for the knockout rounds. Vietnam will on the other hand seek to go out on a high and can trouble Iraq’s defence.
