Aston Villa with a two-goal lead, look to secure their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals as they host Club Brugge in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Aston Villa took control of their Champions League last-16 tie with a 3-1 win over Club Brugge, following an early Leon Bailey goal and an own goal from Brandon Mechele. Christos Tzolis then gifted Villa a penalty, which Marco Asensio converted to extend their advantage. Villa are now looking to become the first team to reach the Champions League quarter-finals in their debut season since Atalanta in 2019-20.
Under Unai Emery, Villa have been strong at home, winning three consecutive matches, including a 1-0 win over Brentford in the Premier League. They’ve also gone unbeaten in 15 home games, with a notable history in European competition, including a victory over Anderlecht in the 1982 European Cup.
Club Brugge, despite being European Cup runners-up in 1978, face a tough task. They’ve never won in 14 attempts against English sides and have been eliminated every time after losing the first leg at home. After last week's defeat, Brugge shifted focus to the Belgian Pro League, where they are nine points behind the leaders, but their European journey may soon be over.
